ATLANTA – Arby's Restaurant Group Inc., a subsidiary of Wendy's/Arby's Group Inc. has opened its first Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) operated Arby's restaurant at Ft. Bliss, Texas. The restaurant is located in Freedom Crossing, the first-ever open-shopping center on a US military installation.

Earlier in 2010, Arby's signed a development agreement with AAFES to develop restaurants on US military installations. As a result, development of additional restaurants is currently under way in Ft. Carson, Colo. and Ft. Lewis, Wash. Preliminary work is being done by Arby's and AAFES to explore other expansion options at US military installations.

AAFES selected Arby's after an extensive search to add another well-known, distinct restaurant brand to its portfolio.

"Partnering with Arby's is consistent with our desire to bring a 'taste of home' to Soldiers and Airmen, regardless of where they serve," said Tom Branning, vice president, Food and Theater, AAFES.

"Over the years, we've heard from numerous military parents and spouses about how much their loved ones stationed around the world miss Arby's -- some have even shipped our Arby's Sauce and Horsey Sauce to give them that little taste of home," said John Todd, chief development officer, Arby's Restaurant Group Inc. "We're proud to now be able to provide our military personnel and their families with a full menu of Arby's favorites they've been craving."
