KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Hearty sandwiches and combos are out in full force for the summer at quick-service restaurants. Each one is appealing to consumers by combining the traditional taste with options to meet diners’ tastes.

KFC leads the way with the latest Crispy Colonel sandwich. The sandwich features a classic chicken filet that is hand-breaded with mayo and pickles on a bun. KFC gives customers the choice of its original sandwich or three signature flavors including Smoky Mountain BBQ, spicy and smoky Nashville Hot, and sweet and tangy Georgia Gold honey mustard BBQ. Another flavor will also be added this summer.

Arby’s added a new menu item to its array of limited time offers with the Bourbon BBQ chicken sandwich. The item is made with a buttermilk chicken filet, brown sugar bacon, cheddar cheese and crispy onions all topped off with a barrel-aged Kentucky bourbon sauce.

The QSR chain recently released three new types of products that can be modified by customers. The Bistro Stack can be ordered with either one, two or three beef patties. The burgers are available with Bistro sauce, parmesan seasoning, a slice of Swiss cheese, grilled onions, Onion Tanglers, and served on a toasted brioche bun.
