Ribeye Steak & Mushroom Taco, Taco Salad Bowl with Ribeye Steak

SHANGHAI, China – Yum China Holdings Inc. and Taco Bell Corp. opened two new restaurants in Shanghai to begin 2018 in hopes to broaden its appeal across the country.

The first location will be in a premium shopping mall in Wu Jiao Chang, close to some universities in Shanghai. The second location will be in another shopping area called Feng Sheng Li.

“The response to our first Taco Bell store in Shanghai has been fantastic, and we are very excited to introduce two more unique restaurants to the city,” said Micky Pant, CEO of Yum China. “The new restaurants integrate Taco Bell’s signature brand and spirit into the local community, and bring both classic menu items and original recipes to cater to Chinese customers.”

The new restaurants come with the opening of some new food as well. The new-China exclusive dished included the following items:

  • Ribeye Steak and Mushroom Crunchy Taco – A taco shell filled with grilled ribeye steak and mushrooms with black pepper sauce.
  • Ribeye Steak Taco Salad Bowl – Grilled ribeye steak, lettuce, cherry tomatoes, and sesame dressing in a taco salad bowl with a side of guacamole and salsa.
  • Grilled Chicken Taco Salad Bowl – Like the ribeye steak taco only with chicken.
  • Beef Kebab Nachos
  • XL-Wing Nachos – XL chicken wings and nacho chips.

The two new Taco Bell restaurants in Shanghai will also introduce a new service model, with orders delivered directly to designated tables.

Taco Bell continues to try new restaurant concepts across the globe. In the United States the company  tried a new layout in Las Vegas that opened in July 2016 called its Cantina restaurants.

“Bringing the Taco Bell experience to more customers globally in locally relevant ways is key to our continued growth,” said Brian Niccol, CEO of Taco Bell Corp. “These new restaurants have truly blended the Taco Bell brand within their communities through locally designed restaurants and customized food and service options.”
