VANCOUVER, Wash. — Weldon Spangler has been named CEO and director of Papa Murphy’s Holdings, Inc., effective July 17. He will succeed Jean Birch, interim CEO, who will remain as chair of the board of directors. The company’s previous CEO, Ken Calwell, resigned in January.

Spangler joins Papa Murphy’s after spending seven years with Dunkin’ Brands Group, most recently as senior vice president of Baskin-Robbins US, Canada and Puerto Rico. Prior to this role, Spangler spent five years working on the Dunkin’ Donuts US and Canada business, first as a regional vice president and then as vice president of operations. Prior to Dunkin Brands, he held significant leadership roles at Starbucks Corp. and Yum! Brands.

“Papa Murphy’s offers a unique, high quality product that customers love,” Spangler said. “With a focus on the success of our franchisees, Papa Murphy’s has significant opportunity to grow and thrive, and I am excited to begin partnering with the entire organization to enhance long term shareholder value.”

Papa Murphy’s also announced that Mark Hutchens has been promoted to executive vice president. He will retain his title of CFO. Before joining Papa Murphy’s in January 2014, Hutchens was CFO, business development/supply chain, at Bloomin’ Brands, Inc. and earlier held senior vice president positions in finance at Office Depot.
