WASHINGTON – Tucson-based Namias of Arizona Inc. launched a recall of approximately 19,200 lbs. of fully cooked chicken products due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, the Food Safety and Inspection Service of the US Dept. of Agriculture reported. The products contain hydrolyzed soy protein, a known allergen, which was not declared on the product label.

FSIS personnel discovered the problem during a routine label review at the establishment. Hydrolyzed soy protein is an ingredient in the chicken base used to manufacture the meals. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of the products, FSIS noted.

The affected items were produced on various dates between Sept. 2, 2015, and March 1, 2016. The products subject to the recall include 20-lb. cases containing 5-lb. bags of “Carlotta’s Kitchen CHICKEN CHILE VERDE” and 20-lb. cases containing 5-lb. bags of “Carlotta’s Kitchen SPORTS CHICKEN,” a chili-type entree.

The products bear establishment number “P-6006” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The chicken chile verde items were shipped to the company’s restaurant in Nevada. The sports chicken items were shipped to the company’s restaurants in Arizona.
