WASHINGTON – The US Department of Agriculture has launched a new weekly National Retail Report that covers local and organic agricultural products. The agency’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) administers USDA Market News.

The new report features advertised prices for fruits and vegetables, livestock, poultry, and dairy products. USDA said the advertising surveys highlight local or organic foods from about 534 retailers and more than 29,000 stores nationwide.

For example, the “Vermont Monthly Local Beef Reported” provides price information for local beef sold within Vermont and other regional areas, USDA said. Other market reports such as the North Carolina Farm-to-School report details farm-to-school products grown, sold and consumed within North Carolina.

The reports are the USDA’s Local & Regional Food Marketing Informationweb page.
