OAKVILLE, Ontario – Smartphone users won't need to take out their wallets to pay for food and drinks at Tim Hortons.
The chain has launched mobile barcode payments at its restaurants in the United States and Canada. To use the service, customers must purchase a prepaid Tim Hortons Card and register it with the company's TimmyMe app, which is available for iOS, Blackberry and Android users.
The TimmyMe app also allows customers to locate the nearest Tim Hortons restaurant, view nutritional information for Tim Hortons' food and reload a prepaid Tim Card.
"We're continuously working to implement best-in-class, customer-centric technology in our restaurants and the launch of mobile barcode payments enables us to offer the best overall guest experience," said David Clanachan, COO, Tim Hortons. "Enhancing our technology so that guests can store their digital Tim Card in their phone for quick and easy payments is an added convenience we know customers will enjoy."
