OTTAWA, Ontario – Groupe Colabor Inc. add ground beef products to the company's recall, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) reported.

The company is recalling Viandes Lauzon brand ground beef products on concerns of possible
E. coliO157:NM contamination. Groupe Colabor already issued a recall of Viandes Lauzon brand lean ground veal on concerns the product may be contaminated withE. coliO157:H7. The ground beef and ground veal products were sold to hotels, restaurants, institutions, and daycare and healthcare facilities in Quebec, according to CFIA.

E. coliO157:NM is likeE. coliO157:H7 in that it produces shiga-toxins that can cause a chain reaction resulting in the destruction of red blood cells and platelets. CFIA noted there have been no reported illnesses associated with consumption of the ground meat products.
