ATLANTA – Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen is adding intense heat to the cold winter months with a new chicken wing offering — Ghost Pepper Wings. The Bhut Jolokia, or ghost pepper, is grown in Bangladesh and some states in India. In 2007, Guinness World Records named the ghost pepper as the world's hottest chili pepper.

Popeyes Ghost Pepper Wings are marinated in an “exotic blend” of peppers, the company said. The bone-in chicken wings are battered and breaded before frying. Popeyes unveiled its newest product innovation at the first Popeyes Bahamas Bowl in Nassau.

“At Popeyes, we know that we set the culinary standard for bone-in chicken and new flavor adventures,” said Hector Munoz, chief marketing officer. “Ghost Pepper Wings are another example of Popeyes leading the way in innovation, quality and value.”

Ghost Pepper Wings are available now through Jan. 25 at participating Popeyes locations.
