KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Youth exhibitors at the American Royal Junior Premium Livestock Auction set record-breaking prices for their animals in four categories, the American Royal reported.

The Grand Champion steer netted $200,000, while the Reserve Grand Champion steer brought in $100,000. The Grand Champion Market Goat was purchased for $25,000, and the Reserve Grand Champion Market Goat brought $15,000. A portion of each sale was contributed to education initiatives and scholarships.


“The proceeds of this event directly benefit the wonderful young people who are focused on our country’s backbone — Agriculture, said Mariner Kemper, chairman of the 2014 American Royal. “We thank the supporters at our auction who purchased, at premium prices, livestock with a sales value of over $600,000.”

The American Royal Association is a not-for-profit corporation that has operated in Kansas City, Mo. since 1899.
