Subway has launched two hot honey offerings to appeal to consumers seeking sweet and spicy flavor combinations.
The company’s hot honey pepperoni sandwich features pepperoni with provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, Italian bread and a hot honey sauce formulated from cayenne pepper, habanero pepper, garlic, onion and cloves. The hot honey chicken sandwich features rotisserie-style chicken, Monterey cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, Italian bread, the hot honey sauce, sriracha and Subway’s SubKrunch toppings.
“Subway’s signature sauces have become as popular as the footlong itself, elevating our freshly sliced meats and vegetables with bold and beloved flavors,” said Paul Fabre, senior vice president of culinary and innovation at Subway. “Our fans know we’re the sub sauce experts, which is why we’re putting a Subway twist on a hot culinary trend, combining sweet honey with hot pepper and a savory blend of spices.”
Fried chicken chain Jollibee has branched into the burger category with three Angus beef burgers. The burger line includes the Angus cheeseburger, the Angus deluxe burger and the Angus Aloha burger, featuring grilled pineapple and Aloha dressing.
“We're confident that our trio of new premium Angus burgers will be a runaway hit with burger lovers everywhere,” said Luis Velasco, senior vice president and marketing head at Jollibee Foods Corp., North America. “Our burgers are crafted with the same passion, attention to detail and high-quality standards that we bring to all our menu items.”
Popeyes, a Restaurant Brands International subsidiary, has launched the limited time Popeyes Pickle Menu. The pickle-forward line includes a pickle glazed chicken sandwich, pickle glazed bone-in and boneless wings, fried pickles and pickle lemonade infused with pickle juice.
Yum! Brands company Taco Bell has combined its toasted cheddar chalupa and cheesy street chalupa formats to launch the toasted cheddar street chalupa. The limited-time item features a chalupa shell with a layer of mild cheddar baked into the dough with toppings such as onions, cilantro, cantina chicken or grilled steak, and an original chile lime crema sauce.
Sonic Drive-In has expanded its dipping sauce portfolio with two original flavors. Jalapeño ranch blends traditional ranch with green jalapeños, and Asian-style sweet chili offers sweet and spicy flavor notes with a blend of soy sauce, sesame, garlic and ginger, according to the company. Sonic also has reformulated its ranch, honey mustard and barbecue sauces in conjunction with the launch.
“Our guests love customization, and the new jalapeño ranch and Asian-style sweet chili dipping sauces let them try different flavor combinations to suit their style,” said Mackenzie Gibson, vice president of culinary and menu innovation at Sonic.
