OTTAWA, Ontario – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning consumers not to eat barbecued chicken products from Thrifty Foods, on concerns some items were contaminated with chemicals.

Thrifty Foods – Port Place, Nanaimo, British Columbia triggered the recall on Jan. 4. Thrifty-Fresh!-brand items subject to the recall include:


• Whole Barbecue Chicken Regular Whole Chicken; UPC 774147302203; Best Before 2014JA04
• BBQ Chicken Breasts Hot!! Various; UPC (starting) 286385; Best Before 2014JA04
• Chicken Legs Hot Various; UPC (starting) 286401; Best Before 2014JA04

No illnesses have been reported. The CFIA said the agency is conducting an investigation.
