CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The American Meat Science Association is hosting an educational webinar on Jan. 17 to addressSalmonellaandCampylobactercontrol in poultry processing.

AMSA developed the webinar for industry stakeholders who are faced more stringent regulatory guidelines, which may require broiler processors to use new or additional pathogen control strategies throughout the processing cycle.

“In recent years, methods for reducing pathogens during poultry processing have advanced with innovations in technology,” AMSA noted. “In the US, broiler processing facilities are required to comply with criteria set forth by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS). Application of intervention strategies at various stages has provided an effective means for pathogen reduction during poultry processing.”

Presenting the 1-hour event will be Manpreet Singh, Ph.D., an associate professor and Extension Food Safety Specialist, Food Science, at Purdue Univ. The webinar is interactive andregistration is complimentary.
