UNION CITY, Tenn. – Williams Sausage Co. announced plans to invest $3 million to expand its manufacturing facility. The expansion will add 150 employees to its current workforce of 414, according to local news reports.

“Williams Sausage is excited to announce the expansion of our plant in Union City, Tennessee and the addition of 150 new jobs over the next two years. In these tough economic times, we consider ourselves very fortunate and are thankful for the Tennessee Department of Economic & Community Development’s assistance in this major expansion of our business,” said Roger Williams, president of the company. “We don’t take it for granted that we are based in a state with a very business-friendly environment. Without this ongoing support, we would find it very difficult to make these investments in our business.”

Country music legend George Jones, who died on April 26, had a licensing deal Williams Sausage to produce George Jones Country Sausage. Product is sold mainly in Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio.
