WASHINGTON – Turkey eggs in incubators on March 1, 2013, totaled 27.1 million, down 7 percent from a year ago, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Eggs in incubators declined 3 percent from the Feb. 1, 2013 total of 27.9 million eggs.
Poults hatched during February slipped 2 percent from 2011 to 22.6 million. Poults hatched were down 6 percent from the January 2013 total of 24.1 million poults, NASS reported.
Net poults placed during February declined 4 percent to 22 million compared to February 2012. Net placements were down 7 percent from the January 2013 total of 23.5 million, according to NASS.
