HENDERSON, Colo. – Mark Swanson, CEO of Birko, will represent supply and service segment interests on the US Meat Export Federation's executive committee. Birko is a leading provider of food safety solutions to the meat, produce and beverage industries.

Swanson is known for his expertise in food safety and international business. He frequently is called upon to make presentations on food safety to industry groups, government agencies and graduate school programs, according to the company. In addition to USMEF, Swanson is a member of the North American Meat Association, National Cattleman’s Beef Association, United Fresh Produce Association, the American Meat Institute and Vistage International, a global network for chief executives.


Swanson has a bachelor's degree in agriculture business and an executive MBA, both from Colorado State Univ. Swanson is also a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, an international honor society recognizing business excellence, and a member of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest, largest, and most selective all-discipline honor society.
