LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Corn Board member Mark Jagels, a farmer from Davenport, was elected chairman of the US Meat Export Federation at the organization’s annual strategic planning conference. Jagels served as USMEF vice chairman the previous year.

“This year has been filled with opportunities and challenges for red meat exports, and I do not expect 2014 to be much different,” said Jagels in a news release. “We continue to face hurdles around the world, but despite these challenges we maintain good momentum as we look to improve on last year’s record for the value of U.S. red meat exports. Jagels said in a news release.

Jagels, a fourth-generation farmer, raises corn and soybeans, feeds cattle and runs a cow/calf operation alongside his father. Before being elected as an officer, Jagels served as a member of the USMEF executive committee representing feed grains, and has co-chaired USMEF’s Feed Grains & Oilseed Committee.
