The Washington-based association said it would use the information collected through the survey to ensure its comments to the FDA appropriately reflect industry challenges in eliminating partially hydrogenated oils and artificial trans fat from menu options. The NRA survey will be open through Dec. 11 and available at svy.mk/1df8jkR.
The FDA in the Nov. 8Federal Registerproposed a rule to eliminate the Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) status of partially hydrogenated oils, which produce artificial trans fats in products. The FDA said it will accept comments on its rule proposal until Jan. 7. The NRA has asked for a 60-day extension.
