OTTAWA, Ontario – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) suspended the operating license of Salaison Levesque Inc., a ready-to-eat meat processor operating in Montreal, Quebec.

The company failed to implement corrective measures to ensure the safety of its products, CFIA reported.

"The CFIA has determined that adequate controls for food safety related to pre-operational inspections of sanitation procedures were not being reliably implemented in the facility on a consistent basis," CFIA said in a notice.

There is no food recall associated with the suspension. Salaison Levesque Inc. cannot resume operations until the company has taken corrective actions required by law and CFIA is assured the company can manage food safety risks.
