WASHINGTON – San Fernando, Calif.-based Ferrarini USA recalled approximately 15,118 lbs. of salami products that were not submitted for re-inspection, the US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service reported. Imported products are subject to re-inspection before product is eligible for distribution.

FSIS discovered the problem when the shipment was not presented for re-inspection during a scheduled appointment.

The products subject to the recall include Salame Emilia Ferrarini Log; Salame Parma Ferrarini Log (boxes of four and five logs); and Ferrarini Salame Parma. Each box bears the code “IT G4279 CE” inside the Italian mark of inspection, though individual logs may not. FSIS said the salami products were shipped to distributors in Arizona and California for distribution to retailers.
