MINNEAPOLIS – Cargill's Lake Odessa, Mich. facility will receive a $10.6 million expansion, the company announced Oct. 24. The facility will grow by nearly 22,500 sq. ft. with additional room for cooler and freezer storage.

The groundbreaking will be Oct. 29, and the expansion is expected to be finished and fully operational by mid-summer 2014, the company said. More than 148 employees work at the Lake Odessa facility. The expansion will create 28 jobs.

“Lake Odessa has been a wonderful community partner to us, and we are very pleased to invest additional resources in this area,” said Troy Peper, Lake Odessa plant manager for Cargill Kitchen Solutions. “As we made final expansion decisions, we appreciated the support of the Lake Odessa Economic Alliance and The Right Place. We also appreciated the support of local and state officials. These public-private partnerships demonstrate what can be done when we all work together.”
