BUFFALO, NY – Will Poultry Co. filed a notice with the New York State Department of Labor that the company will close its doors in December.

The shutdown date is Dec. 28, and 113 workers will be affected, according to the company's Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice. The reason for the closure was "sale of business", but no additional details were given (

Will Poultry Co. was founded in 1929 as a poultry processor and distributor, according to the company's website. Today, it is the largest locally owned meat and poultry, seafood, kosher and institutional food distributor in Western New York.

The company's facilities include a 120,000-sq.-ft. warehouse with storing capacity for 15 million lbs. of dry, fresh and frozen food products. Will Poultry serves 21 counties in Western New York, northwest Pennsylvania and northeast Ohio.
