WASHINGTON — Frozen stocks of eggs, turkey and cheese in warehouses on April 30 were greater than year-earlier levels, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest

Cold Storage report.

Total frozen egg stocks on April 30 were 18,467,000 lbs, down 9% from March 2009 but up 15% from April 2008. Stocks of egg whites were 2,953,000 lbs, up 8% from the previous month and up 11% from the previous year. Frozen egg yolk stocks were 1,010,000 lbs, down 3% from March but up 6% from the previous year. Whole and mixed egg stocks came in at 7,610,000 lbs, down 7% from March but up 10% from April 2008.

Total natural cheese stocks were 914,093,000 lbs, up 2% from the previous month and up 7% from the previous year. Total butter stocks were 242,746,000 lbs, up 14% from March 2009 but down 3% from April 2008.

Turkey stocks were 577,316,000 lbs, up 12% from March 2009 and up 18% from April 2008. Total chicken stocks were 663,385,000 lbs, up 4% from the previous month but down 12% from the previous year. Overall, total frozen poultry supplies were 1,246,125,000 lbs, up 8% from the previous month and equal to levels from the previous year.

Total red meat supplies were 1,053,173,000 lbs, up 1% from March but down 5% from the previous year, the U.S.D.A. said. Total frozen beef stocks were 410,899,000 lbs, down 4% from the previous month and down 1% from the previous year. Frozen pork stocks totaled 614,666,000 lbs, up 3% from March 2009 but down 7% from the previous year. Frozen pork belly stocks were 79,337,000 lbs, up 9% from March 2009 but down 21% from April 2008.

Total frozen vegetable stocks were 1,703,797,000 lbs, down 7% from March but up 18% from the previous year.

Stocks of frozen french fries were 977,593,000 lbs, down 1% from March 2009 but up 8% from April 2008.

Stocks of all types of frozen fruit totaled 897,367,000 lbs, down 2% from March but up 4% from April 2008.

Stocks of frozen orange juice concentrate were 1,385,303,000 lbs, up 9% from the previous month and up 14% from the previous year.

Fresh apples in regular and controlled storage totaled 2,090,251,000 lbs, down 27% from the previous month but up 23% from the previous year.
