WASHINGTON – Turkey eggs in incubators on Sept. 1, 2013, totaled eased 3 percent to 25.5 million compared to a year ago, according to the US Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Eggs in incubators declined 8 percent from the Aug. 1, 2013, total of 27.6 million eggs.

Poults hatched during August 2013 were down 4 percent to 22.8 million. NASS reported that poults hatched declined 3 percent from the July 2013 total of 23.6 million poults.


Net poults placed during August were down 4 percent from the same month last year, according to NASs. Producers placed 22.4 million net poults. Net placements declined 6 percent from the July 2013 total of 23.7 million, NASS reported.
