WASHINGTON – Hanford, Calif.-based Central Valley Meat Company recalled 58,240 lbs. of ground beef that may contain small pieces of plastic, the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service reported.

Customer complaints led FSIS to investigate the problem, but there have been no reports of injury or illnesses associated with consumption of the ground meat. The agency gave no explanation as to how the plastic pieces got into the product.

The products subject to recall include 40-lb. cases containing 10-lb. chubs of “Fine Ground Beef.”
