BATESVILLE, Ark. – A Pilgrim's Pride chicken plant in Batesville, Ark., will close its doors in 60 days, according to local news reports. Local officials said Ozark Mountain Poultry in Rogers, Ark., has emerged as a potential buyer.

A spokesman for the company said the closure is part of the company's broader corporate strategy. More than 400 people work at the Batesville plant.

However, news reports state that Independence County Economic Development and other agencies are working to accommodate a sale of the Batesville complex to Ozark Mountain Poultry. Ozark Mountain Poultry is a subsidiary of OMP Foods, which carries Forester Farmers Market brand of antibiotic-free chicken products.
