MINNEAPOLIS –Dr. Brooke Humphrey has been named global technology director-pork for Cargill’s animal nutrition business at the innovation campus in Elk River, Minn. He is currently the monogastric R&D director in Elk River.

“Brooke will excel in this new role,” said Dr. Jason Shelton, global technology application director. “The experience he brings from working with a multitude of businesses and species will help Cargill better serve our animal nutrition customers and partners.”


After serving as a professor for seven years at the Univ. of Maryland and California Polytechnic State Univ. Humphrey joined Cargill in 2010 as a global technology leader. He has an expertise in working across different species with a focus on nutritional immunology. In 2011, Humphrey assumed the role of R&D director for pork, poultry, ruminant, aqua, pet, equine and modeling. Most recently, he became the monogastric R&D director leading the pork and aqua efforts, as well as playing an essential role on the nutritional science team that works across Cargill’s animal nutrition and animal protein businesses.

This is an exciting time for the global feed and nutrition industry, Humphrey said. “Cargill has been expanding its footprint to enhance the vitality, health and growth of pork, poultry, ruminants, aquaculture and pets all over the world,” he added. “Through our 15 global Technical Application Centers, our researchers develop world-class nutrition-based models and solutions that consistently return higher profits for our customers.”

Humphrey has earned a doctorate in nutrition and a master’s degree in animal science from the Univ. of California - Davis, and a bachelor’s degree in animal science from California Polytechnic State Univ. in San Luis Obispo.
