OMAHA – A California man has pleaded guilty for his part in a plot to steal $163,000 in meat from a Nebraska Beef facility in Omaha, Neb.

Artak Medjbarian of Sherman Oaks, Calif., pleaded guilty to conspiring to steal Nebraska Beef products. Federal Prosecutors said Medjbarian and others prepared phony documents to imitate a legitimate freight hauler. Freight brokers scuttled the plan when they raised questions about the documents and contacted the company directly.


Medjbarian was arrested in January 2011 when he arrived at Nebraska Beef pretending have legitimate authority to transport the product. He is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 7.
