NASHVILLE, TENN. — At a time when news stories about plant closings and layoffs are commonplace, it is heartening to hear that Five Star Custom Foods, a Fort Worth, Texas-based meat-processing company, plans to open a manufacturing plant this fall in Nashville that will eventually employ 250 people, according to The Tennessean.

The company processes meat products, sauces and non-meat ingredients for brand-name food manufacturers and restaurant chains. It makes products such as pizza toppings, as well as ingredients for soup and frozen entrées.

Five Star plans to convert an existing building to process cooked meat products that will be distributed to markets on the East Coast and in the Southeast.
