TUCKER, Ga. – The US Poultry & Egg Association has established a new Charles Beard Research Excellence Award, named after Dr. Charles Beard, in recognition of his contributions to USPOULTRY’s research program and the association’s Foundation.

The award will recognize USPOULTRY or USPOULTRY Foundation-funded research projects that have made a significant impact on the poultry industry, according to the association. The recipient will receive transportation to and two nights lodging at the IPE in Atlanta, in addition to a $1,500 cash award. The Foundation Research Advisory Committee will choose a recipient each year during its fall meeting.

Dr. Beard served as a member of the Foundation’s research advisory committee for more than 15 years, and continued to guide research programs for an additional 17 years as vice president of research for USPOULTRY. Dr. Beard and the chairman of the Foundation Advisory committee will present the award.
