DAKOTA DUNES, SD – A former employee of Beef Products International (BPI) will file a civil lawsuit against a national broadcast company following the controversy over lean finely textured beef, or LFTB, according to news reports.

Bruce Smith, former BPI Environmental Health and Safety Officer, will hold a press conference June 26 to give details about the civil suit he plans to file against the as-yet named national broadcast company and other individuals involved. During the press conference, Smith is also expected to unveil his new book, “Pink Slime Ate My Job”.

Smith was one of the more than 1,000 BPI employees who lost his job when the company closed three of its four processing plants and eliminated corporate positions at its headquarters.
