MONTREAL, Quebec – Olymel has launched its Smart Nature line of deli meats, which combines protein and fiber giving consumers what the company says is a more nutritious product.

Olymel Smart Nature products contain 2 grams of fiber per serving, which represents 5 percent to 8 percent of the daily recommended intake, the highest fiber content in its category, according to Olymel.

The company is also touting the product label, which it said is simplified and easy for consumers to understand. The labels present a short list of easily identifiable ingredients. The nutrition and ingredient label is also displayed on the front of the package, the company said.

Smart Nature pre-packaged products are available at most supermarkets at the self-serve counter and with two varieties of ham at the deli counter, according to Olymel. The suggested retail price varies between $3.99 to $4.59 for shaved ham and $4.99 to $5.39 for shaved poultry. Olymel markets its products under the Olymel, Lafleur and Flamingo brands.
