GARNER, NC – Butterball LLC received Worker Safety Recognition Awards from the American Meat Institute for five of the company's facilities.

The awards were presented during AMI's Conference on Worker Safety, Health, Human Resources and the Environment in Kansas City, Mo. The awards aim to recognize AMI member companies who work to create a safer workplace for their employees. Facilities receiving the award were:

  • Award of Honor – Huntsville, Ark.
  • Award of Honor – Ozark, Ark.
  • Award of Merit – Carthage, Mo.
  • Award of Merit – Jonesboro, Ark.
  • Award of Merit – Mt. Olive, NC

Butterball facilities in Carthage, Mo.; Jonesboro, Ark.; Ozark, Ark. and Huntsville, Ark. have been designated OSHA Star Sites, with the Ozark site recognized with the highest safety rating, OSHA Super Star, in 2010. Companies receiving this designation have worker-safety programs that help lower injuries and encourage high levels of employee participation at success rates significantly higher than industry averages.
