WASHINGTON – Last week the Indiana Senate passed a measure that would suspend state business licenses of any employer who knowingly hires undocumented employees on three occasions, according to the American Meat Institute.

Passing the Senate by a vote of 37-13, the measure is similar to legislation that became law in Arizona two years ago. The Indiana Chamber of Commerce and other civic associations, however, opposed passing the bill.

Next stop for the bill is at the Indiana House for further consideration.
