AUGUSTA, GA. — According to a story published by the Augusta Chronicle, FPL Food LLC has eliminated about 80 positions representing approximately 10% of its workforce at the firm’s main plant in Augusta, effective March 19 and 20, Steve Hixon, the company's director of marketing, told the Augusta Chronicle.

Approximately 800 employees are still working at the main plant. FPL also has a further processing facility in Augusta.

All departments were reportedly affected by the layoffs, which is the company’s attempt to "realign the labor force due to the economic conditions."
