WASHINGTON – Turkey eggs in incubators on Dec. 1, 2012, totaled 27.0 million, down 6 percent from Dec. 1, 2011, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) of the US Department of Agriculture. Eggs in incubators declined 2 percent from the Nov. 1, 2012, total of 27.6 million eggs, according to NASS.
Poults hatched during November gained 4 percent from 2011 to total 23.7 million. Poults hatched were up 2 percent from the October 2012 total of 23.3 million poults, NASS said.
Net poults placed during November climbed 5 percent to 23.1 million from the number placed during the same month a year ago. Net placements were up slightly from the October 2012 total of 23.1 million.
