ABERDEEN, SD – Now that it has received its permanent certificate of occupancy from the city of Aberdeen, Northern Beef Packers is free to process an unlimited number of cattle. This is the latest “win” for this new beef plant, which has endured a number of delays in its efforts to get the new plant up and running at full capacity.

The city of Aberdeen previously restricted the plant's processing to 125 head of cattle a day because of delays in the installation of wastewater equipment in recent months. But the facility received the permit late in the day Dec. 21, which lifts any previously existing production limits.

"As far as we are concerned, the facility is complete. The plant can increase production without restriction," said Chad Nilson, city of Aberdeen building inspector in an Aberdeen News article.

Once fully operational, the plant is expected to process 1,500 head of cattle per day.
