RIO GRANDE, Ohio – J. Tim Evans, the last living original founder of Bob Evans Farms, Inc. died Oct. 11 in Gallipolis, Ohio.

Tim Evans' career began in 1953 when he was employed in his father's meat business, Evans Packing Co. His first cousin, Bob, approached him about forming a company to make a sell sausage. Tim Evans and Bob Evans, along with their uncle Emerson and three friends, launched Bob Evans Farms, Inc. Tim Evans remained a company board member for many years.

"We were saddened to learn of the passing of company founder, Tim Evans," said Steve Davis, chairman and CEO of the company. "Tim was one of the visionaries who helped shape the company and guide it in its early years, which would ultimately help us become the $1.7 billion, multi-brand corporation we are today.

"Tim Evans will be held close in our hearts and memories today as we celebrate the 42nd annual Farm Festival on the original Bob Evans Farm & Homestead in Rio Grande," Davis added. "His legacy will live on in the happiness of children and adults who celebrate the harvest time together, enjoying an event he helped create. For that, we are forever grateful. We will keep Tim and the Evans family in our prayers."
