DENVER – Kasel Associated Industries of Denver, Colo. announced a voluntary recall of its Nature’s Deli Chicken Jerky Dog Treats on concerns the product may be contaminated with Salmonella, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The product was distributed to 57 Sam’s Club locations in Colorado, Iowa, Idaho, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming. No illnesses have been reported in animals or humans in connection with the products, FDA said.

FDA said the problem was discovered during routing sampling, which revealed that finished products contained Salmonella. The treats are packaged in a clear plastic bag with the Nature’s Deli logo and marked with UPC bar code 647263800208 and contain 2.5 lbs. of chicken jerky, according to FDA. The company is recalling lot number BEST BY 091913 DEN because this lot code tested positive for Salmonella through analysis by the FDA. No other products are included in the recall.
