BOSTON – UFood Restaurant Group Inc. was awarded a contract by the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) to build and operate three UFood Grill units at Aberdeen Proving Ground. This marks the company’s entry into serving the military.

"This is an exciting moment for our company as we prepare to enter into the military channel," said George Naddaff, CEO and founder of Boston Market.

The company began building the first of three locations to open at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. The 1,770-sq.-ft. restaurant is expected to open in 60 to 90 days.

UFood Grill is an ideal addition for the troops and their families at Aberdeen, said Kevin Wensing, a retired Navy captain and partner in MBUF LLC/Dark Horse Capital Partners. This private investment group of military veterans signed a joint venture with UFood Restaurant Group to focus on the expansion of the UFood Grill concept on US military installations around the world.

“UFood offers a healthy and convenient option for the Aberdeen community which will enhance the quality of life for everyone affiliated with the base,” he added. “Healthy food options play an important part in maintaining a ready and effective force,"

The company said it would offer consumers great-tasting food that is lower in calories and fat and, wherever possible, serve meals that are antibiotic and hormone-free, gluten-free as well as natural, grass-fed beef and cage-free eggs. UFood's menu includes lean burgers, wraps and paninis, among other items.

UFood Restaurant Group Inc. is a franchisor and operator of fast-casual foodservice restaurants.
