FORT MADISON, Iowa – A 17,000-sq.-ft. expansion to Pinnacle Foods' Fort Madison canned meat plant is officially open, the company announced on Jan. 27.

The expansion includes new production and packaging lines for the company's Nalley chili and Brook's bean brands. Pinnacle Foods invested $20 million on upgrades to the facility and infrastructure and installed new manufacturing equipment.

“We are excited to support the growth of our company by expanding production in Fort Madison,” says Bryan Langerud, plant manager of Fort Madison plant. “The State of Iowa and the City of Fort Madison were critical to our successful expansion and we thank them for their support over the past year.”

More than 80 products have been added to the plant's existing production line of Armour canned meats and chili, the company said. The expansion also will bring 65 new jobs to the Fort Madison area.
