WAYZATA, Minn. – Greg Page, Cargill Inc. chairman and chief executive officer, has been named chairman of the board of directors for the Brazil-US Business Council. Page succeeds John Faraci, CEO and chairman of International Paper.

This private-sector organization promotes trade and investment between the US and Brazil. It represents the largest US companies invested in Brazil and collaborates with the US Chamber of Commerce. The Brazilian segment of the council is managed by the Brazilian National Confederation of Industry and includes 27 federations of industry and trade associations.

The board’s election of Page as chair recognizes Cargill’s support of the US-Brazil bilateral commercial agenda and its dedication to sustainable economic development, said Jodi Bond, the US Chamber of Commerce’s vice president of the Americas. “Greg Page and Cargill are the gold standard, an exemplary model for companies looking at long term business investment and growth in the US-Brazil commercial dialogue,” Bond added.

Page oversees Cargill’s global operations. The company employs more than 142,000 employees in 66 countries. Page has worked 37 years with Cargill and was named chairman and CEO in 2007. Cargill has been in Brazil since 1965 and is one of the 10-largest food producers in that country. Cargill’s Brazil operations includes production facilities, warehouses, port terminals and branch offices in approximately 180 Brazilian cities and it employs more than 7,000 people. In 2011, Cargill opened one of the food industry’s most advanced technology and innovation centers in São Paulo.

The US Section of the Brazil-US Business Council represents the largest US companies invested in Brazil and works collaboratively with the US Chamber of Commerce. The Brazil Section of the Council is managed by the Brazilian National Confederation of Industry (CNI), composed of the 27 Brazilian state-level federations of industry and trade associations. BUSBC also works closely with the American Chamber of Commerce for Brazil (Amcham Brazil), the US-Brazil CEO Forum, and sectoral associations in both countries
