DENVER – Quiznos announced a new relationship with Meijer, a Great Lakes region supercenter chain and grocery retailer based in Michigan, which calls for Quiznos restaurants to open inside Meijer locations in Michigan. This move is the most recent in a series of successful partnerships and store openings in Quiznos’ development strategy.

“Meijer brings a history of insight and creativity into the Great Lakes region and the local grocery store customer,” said Quiznos’ Shultz Hartgrove, senior vice president of convenience and non-traditional development. “Meijer saw an opportunity to better serve their loyal customer base by offering Quiznos as a dining option. This made Meijer the ideal choice to extend our non-traditional store offering and best meet regional needs in the Great Lakes. Quiznos and Meijer will benefit from the store becoming a one-stop shop for groceries, household goods and lunch.”

The new Quiznos restaurant will be located at a Meijer store in Ann Arbor, Mich., with plans to look at further expansion to more Meijer supercenters.

“We are pleased to welcome Quiznos into our stores,” said Jennifer Bonney, real estate property manager for Meijer. “We believe the strength of the Quiznos brand and menu will be a perfect fit to draw in additional breakfast, lunch and dinner customers for our stores, while offering our current customers another dining option.”

The Quiznos/Meijer supercenter location(s) will feature a menu tailored for the grocery store customer and retailer, including Quiznos’ signature toasty sub favorites and hot breakfast items.

The Meijer partnership demonstrates Quiznos’ continued commitment to partner with strong, regional retail operators for success in the non-traditional retail channel, Quiznos said. Through its development initiative, Quiznos opened more than 200 convenience store and non-traditional locations in 2011 and established partnerships with convenience industry leaders, including HESS, Mapco, Champlain Farms, Meijer and others, with continued growth planned.
