ATLANTA – Popeyes named Andrew Skehan, a former Wendy's/Arby's executive, as the new chief operating officer for its international business. He replaces former international COO Dave Smith who left earlier this year "to pursue a new opportunity," according to the company.

Skehan was previously COO at Wendy's/Arby's Group Inc. That company broke up in July when Wendy's sold the struggling Arby's to an investment firm. He also served as president of Europe, Africa and Middle East operations for Quiznos.

Popeyes is owned by AFC Enterprises Inc., which has posted revenue gains for the past three quarters after losing revenue throughout 2009 and the first half of 2010. Popeyes operate approximately 2,000 restaurants in 26 countries.
