DES MOINES, Iowa — An agreement to cooperate in the marketplace has been made between Marel Townsend Further Processing, Des Moines, and Nothum Food Processing Systems of Springfield, Mo. The partnership is based on adding value for both companies in support of Marel company values, according to Bob Damstetter, vice president for Marel Townsend Further Processing.

Based on the terms of the relationship, Marel will market Nothum coating and frying products exclusively in North America (US and Canada) for the meat, poultry and seafood industries. Products include the SuperFlex Drum Breader, the VersaCoat Preduster/Breader, the BatterPro Tempura system and the ProTherm Thermal Fryer, among others. Service and support will continue to be handled by Nothum, Damstetter said. However, both may move into the Marel organization in the future.

This cooperative agreement between Nothum and Marel further augments the already extensive product line of Marel Townsend Further Processing. For meat and poultry processors, it offers full-line capability at a single point of purchase – Marel.

“We are very excited about this agreement and the prospect of cooperative marketing with Nothum Food Processing Systems,” said Theo Hoen, Marel CEO. “The alliance between our two companies will bring a new dimension to the further-processing industry and allow both companies to better serve our respective customer bases.”

Marel refers to itself as the leading global provider of advanced equipment and systems for the meat, poultry and fish industries. The Marel, Townsend Further Processing and Stork Poultry Processing brands are among the most respected in the world. Combined, they offer the convenience of a single source to meet a customer’s every need, the company concluded.
