WASHINGTON – Several weeks ago, the US Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service bought 12,372,000 lbs. of chicken and chicken products at an approximate cost of $9,991,000 for school lunch and other domestic food nutrition assistance programs.

In the first week of February, AMS purchased 1,120,000 lbs. of frozen, diced chicken at an approximate cost of $2,700,000 for school lunch and other domestic food nutrition assistance programs. AMS announced that purchase program for diced chicken is now complete.


No offers were received for canned, boned poultry 50-ounce cans for school lunch and other domestic food nutrition assistance programs, AMS said. Invitation number two will be issued Feb. 14. Acceptances will be announced on Feb. 18 for delivery from March 16-31. Invitation number 18 for cut-up, oven-roasted, and bulk pack (small, large, and legs) will be issued on Feb. 14. Acceptances will be announced by Feb. 18 for delivery from April 1-15.
