WASHINGTON — International attendees at the American Meat Institute’s 2011 Meat, Poultry & Seafood Convention and Exposition, set for April 13-16 at McCormick Place in Chicago, will benefit from networking opportunities, educational sessions and exhibitors’ products and services.

Numerous international trade shows have partnered with AMI in promoting each other’s shows. They include Foodex in England, FOOMA in Japan, ExpoCarnes in Mexico, IFFA in Germany and Techno Carne in Brazil. AMI said it welcoming many attendees from around the world to the event.


The Spring Expo will feature an international trade center adjacent to the main registration. Services include Internet and email access, lounge areas, private meeting rooms, translators, refreshments and other business matching services for international visitors.

AMI is also collaborating with the Chicago International Trade Commissioners’ Association (CITCA), a volunteer organization comprising the senior trade representatives from foreign governments based in Chicago. CITCA currently has 41 members representing 35 countries. The trade commissioners play an essential role in informing and consulting their commercial constituents from their respective countries and in facilitating trade and business opportunities with the Midwest.
