TUCKER, Ga. – Dr. John Glisson has been appointed director of research for the US Poultry & Egg Harold E. Ford Foundation (USPOULTRY Foundation). He succeeds Dr. Henry Marks, who is retiring.

As director of research, Glisson will administer the association's research program that includes all components of poultry and egg production and processing. He will work with the Foundation's Research Advisory Committee and will receive and evaluate research proposals and make recommendations to the board of directors for funding approval. During the past 20 years, more than $22 million has been invested in research funding.

Glisson recently retired as head of the Department of Population Health at the Univ. of Georgia, was head of the Department of Avian Medicine, and was associate dean of public service and outreach at the Univ. of Georgia's College of Veterinary Medicine. He is a past president of the American Association of Avian Pathologists and has received numerous honors for his work. He received his BS in Biology from Valdosta State and his DVM, Master of Avian Medicine and Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology from the Univ. of Georgia.
