WASHINGTON – JBS USA officials consented to a decision by the US Department of Agriculture’s Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration requiring the company to correctly disclose the lean percentage of carcasses delivered at three of its hog-processing facilities. According to the agency, JBS was issued a cease and desist order and was fined $175,000 for failure to disclose when fat-content data has been missing, preventing it from calculating lean percentage and substituting lean values when calculating payment on hogs delivered to its facilities in Worthington, Minn., Marshalltown, Iowa, and Louisville, Ky.
