DALLAS – Dickey's Barbecue Pit officials have heard during the nine months of testing its new limited time product Spicy Cheddar Sausage in North Texas locations that customers love spice – and the more cheese, the better.

"In Texas, we love certain tastes. But, having worked in fine-dining restaurants and many culinary formats all over the world, I know this is not just a Texas thing," Dickey's Corporate Chef Tyler Riddle said reviewing customer survey results last month. "Everyone loves cheese, just like everyone loves the taste of butter. And our Spicy Cheddar Sausage will not knock your socks off with heat, but it has just enough kick to off-set the cheddar. It is a mixture that just can't go wrong."

Spicy Cheddar Sausage will be offered at stores throughout the country Feb. 1. On Jan, 28, Dickey's will hold National Spicy Cheddar Sausage Sample Day, where patrons can stop by their local Dickey's for a free sample of this new product.

In addition to testing in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Dickey's has sent samples to local press and restaurant industry publications and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, the company said.

"We have a winner," said Corby Cronin, vice president of operations. "The Spicy Cheddar Sausage is a new spin on our signature Polish-style sausage that has been a customer favorite for decades. With all of the positive feedback from customers over the past few months, we are just anxious to get it out to our stores across the country."
